Day Mother Programme

The Day Mother programme supports children between 0 and 5 years old, who don’t have access to quality Early Childhood Education.

Such a programme is presented at the Day Mother’s home, to a maximum of six children. The programme provides children with the opportunity for development and stimulation in order to become school ready, have a strong learning foundation and become resilient against life’s stressors. The Day Mother's home is a safe space where children are provided with a balanced meal. The Day Mother may request a financial contribution from the parents.

Little Seeds trains Day Mothers and provide age appropriate educational material and equipment to stimulate learning in babies and children.

The Day Mother Programme is built on the four ECD building blocks:

Little Seeds can assist with:

  • Training Day Mothers in order to start a playgroup.
  • Provides the play box from the social services office project budget.
  • Continuous training to day mothers and community developers.
  • Monthly telephonic consultations for monitoring, support and professional support.
